Povi was born in the golden fields of Grandier. She was raised within a large, but simple family. They relied heavily on magic, despite the technology used in other countries. She was raised to tend to both the fields and her older family members. Despite having never left the fields, Povi began to grow tired of her simple lifestyle and wanted more. Sure, she was given all the toys and snacks she could ever want, but she believed her current life to be boring, especially after hearing stories from her more “productive” cousins. One main inspiration for Povi to leave her hometown was Liam. Her older cousin was a man who got to use his healing powers for more than just growing crops. He was allowed to join the efforts to push back corruption from the main city. He even had a high position within the council in Numena. Although the stories of Numena were vague, Povi was sure that such a path would fit her far more than her homelife.

After bringing this up to her parents, Povi begins her training in order to be allowed to leave the Grandier fields. She tries to learn the same healing magic that her family uses, and fails horribly. Povi doesn’t give up her dream to leave, and is instead given a tool to help her anyway. This “tool” is Lolly. The doll serves as both a companion and a highly dangerous weapon should Povi ever need such a thing. The doll also served to help with Povi’s emotional intelligence, something healers often strived for. Before Povi could leave the fields, she had to learn to understand the needs and wants of the doll child. Soon after this, and when she became an adult, Povi was allowed to start her journey of becoming a guardian angel.

She is sent to the school known as the “New Grandier’s Saint Academy'' under it’s new experimental program. Since Povi’s skills were severely lacking, she wouldn’t have been allowed to take the normal classes, despite her relatively prestigious background. Her personality is also generally regarded as abrasive, something that wouldn’t slide with the normal members of the school. The best Povi’s family could do was send her to this program and hope she would grow to become someone allowed in the better classes.

At first, Povi was unaware that she was in a strange program in the first place. Although both her classmates and teachers weren’t strange, she hadn’t been around people from prestigious families before. Despite being from one herself, her family rarely ever did anything with the power that they had. (The only time the Shearhart family used their influence was getting the Lolly doll commissioned for Povi.) However, this is quick to change after her life is put into danger for seemingly no reason. After fighting Marcus, she realizes that the school new how weak she was and that she was used as fodder during the fight. She starts to grow jaded and looks for a way to get out the program she was forced into.
